You Can Now Book a Getaway at One of Australia’s Three Board Game-Themed Holiday Homes – Concrete Playground

Maybe you really need to hone your scrabble skills during lockdown, or maybe you’ve just always been a baller with a draw four wild card. Either way, your board game obsession is nearing the final match as Australia has just scored a new trio of stays that delve into three game night classics. Meet Up, House of Uno, Pictionary Palace and Scrabble Shack.

These very playful getaways landed on the Sunshine Coast and the Blue Mountains, courtesy of the game company Mattel and the folks at Each of the houses can be booked for up to two nights and comes stocked with a stack of themed furniture, merch, and other playful gear – yep, think, Uno pajamas, oversized Pictionary timers, and Scrabble pillows. And of course there is an enviable board game collection that not only includes Mattel classics, but also variations in special editions. That said, these are pretty stylish little cushions too, with regular fixtures like bathrooms, fireplaces, and comfy beds.

Scrabble Shack

The House of Uno is tucked away in the green hinterland of the Sunshine Coast and offers a view of the treetops, ceilings with Uno motifs and a primo living room that is set up for the game night. In the Blue Mountains, Pictionary Palace has four bedrooms, a pretty garden, and an abundance of Pictionary swag. And not far away, a beautifully restored wooden house has been reborn as the Scrabble Shack, hidden among the trees and filled with Scrabble-themed artifacts ranging from wall art to letter cookies.

Bookings for all three short breaks have only just opened. So be quick if you want to beat the other board game fiends and pay a visit. Especially with discounted stays that are currently on offer. Over the next few days, the cost per night will be reduced to match the cost of the game. For example, a Uno deck will bring you back $ 10 so bookings for House of Uno are simply $ 10 a night.

Bookings for House of Uno, Pictionary Palace and Scrabble Shack are now available for stays beginning Friday, October 23rd.
