Palm Springs Trip – Group Travel

After breakfast, join Chris for an hour-long presentation of how to take stunning travel photographs. With some new knowledge we will then set off for Joshua Tree National Park. (Note that attendees will need their own vehicles during the workshop to drive between locations.) Here we have the opportunity to wander and photograph among the incredible granite rock formations and monoliths, as well as the equally photogenic and wacky scary ones, Joshua Tree Yuccas. This is the High Desert (average altitude around 3,500 feet), and winter weather can vary widely: from warm, crystal clear sunny days with deep blue skies to bitterly cold ones. An overlying frost or fresh snowfall overnight can make for sensational, breathtaking photography. We will explore the different ecosystems of the park including places like Skull Rock, Arch Rock and the Cholla Cactus Garden. We can stop in the park to enjoy a picnic before heading to nearby Pioneertown in the afternoon. This quirky desert oasis is made up of western-style spaghetti buildings built in 1946 that were originally used as backdrops for Hollywood movies. Today this unique “museum” is perfect for a shoot with “golden hour” and “blue hour”. After taking our final shots of the day, head back to Palm Springs and rest after an exciting, active day.
