ANNAPOLIS, MD – TravelMag, an international tourism website, named Annapolis one of the 30 Most Charming Cities in the United States on March 29th. The publication pointed to the city’s nautical and historical charm.
The writer Paul Stafford noted that the Maryland State House is the oldest capital in the country. He also estimated that Maryland was the nation’s capital from 1783 to 1784.
“Annapolis is a beautiful, green little town,” wrote Stafford in the story. “Today you can explore the colonial architecture and rich history or take a sailing trip in the bay.”
TravelMag compiled the list by asking more than 500 travel writers, bloggers, photographers and industry professionals to name five cities with the greatest appeal. The cities had to be spread over at least three states and have 10,000 to 250,000 inhabitants. Approximately 39,223 people call Annapolis home.
The cities with the most votes reached the top 30, which are listed in no particular order. The full list can be found here. Annapolis was the only city in Maryland that made the cut.
