Ex-Pat’s travel book from Alicante rises to the top of the charts.
With the release of a new guide that tops the charts, it’s just got a bit easier to take this life-changing step overseas.
Few know the pitfalls that await them in sun-drenched foreign countries as well as the former diplomat and experienced ex-Pat Lynda Brettle.
Now the mother of two, who has lived in Spain since 2003, has brought together all of her knowledge and experience in a fascinating new book.
Brains at the Border has already ranked number one on the Amazon Travel Writing table and has received a number of five-star ratings.
Lynda said, “Living abroad is not the same as vacation. Driving overseas for the first time, especially on your own, can be like getting behind the wheel of a car without driving instruction and directly getting into M4 traffic.
“Brains at the Border provides the guidance and support needed to avoid disasters.”
Lynda worked as a diplomat for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for many years before settling in Spain.
Since starting her own counseling services for potential ex-pats, she has seen firsthand the problems that can destroy that dream train.
In Brains at the Border, she recalls many of her own experiences abroad on paradisiac islands and in war zones and gives valuable tips on overcoming the linguistic, legal and bureaucratic hurdles that immigrants often face.
Lynda added, “Brains at the Border shows my own exciting, fun and dramatic experiences with the FCO around the world.
“There are also the good and bad experiences of others, especially those who have become self-employed in Spain – and a number of issues that everyone should consider when moving abroad.”
In addition to running her successful ex-pat mentoring service, Lynda is also volunteering as president of the Samaritans charity in Spain.
Since the release of Brains at the Border, it has received a number of five-star ratings from avid readers.
Lynda’s new guide has been described as a “life lesson,” “helpful,” and “great insight into relationship survival”.
After the success of Brains at the Border, Lynda continues to write books.
